Every Little Move You Make Can Help Your Health

Vigorous exercise isn’t the only way you can reap the health benefits from physical activity, a new study just found that Lower-key workouts and even activities you’d never think of as exercise, can also improve your well-being.!

In the study, 6,000 healthy U.S. women ages 63 and older, wore fitness trackers to record activity levels for a week.

Study co-author Andrea LaCroix explained they wanted to study the impact of “most of the movements of daily life,”

So walking around, getting dressed, checking the mail, walking the dog and doing dishes all count!!

Comparing women who get less exercise, and those who get lots of light physical activity have up to to a 42% lower risk of dying from coronary problems, such as heart attacks.

The study found that if you move your body 5.6 to 10.3 hours a day, you lower your health risks.

We know that 25% of Americans are sedentary for more than eight hours of their waking day,

Let’s start by changing the mindset to just 5 hours of any movement a day can lower your health risks by almost half…that’s huge!!

The biggest takeaway is that every step you take counts!!!

MOVEMENT IS KEY

Americans watch an average of five hours of TV a day. Rather than tossing out your television, create a realistic goal of moving more while you watch.

Stand or march, do periodic couch or floor push-ups or squats, or perform gentle stretches or practice your head stand.

The key is to maintain regular movement, regardless of your conditions or schedule.

Rather than trying to squeeze more hours for exercise into a packed day, look at your lifestyle and find ways to add more movement into your existing routine.
